01 / Scope

We supply components. We do not install systems.

This is the whole commercial model, stated up front so nobody discovers it after a purchase order. EMS-Safety is a component supplier. Every drawing, calculation, installation, commissioning and acceptance test on your project belongs to your designer of record and your installing contractor, not to us.

The same six lines reappear in five places on a typical project. Naming the place makes it obvious which of your packages each line belongs in.

01 / White space

Sprinklers above, aspirating sampling in the voids

Quick response heads on the wet pipe branch lines, with aspirating sampling points in the ceiling void, under the raised floor and at the return air grilles where the smoke actually travels.

02 / Racks, trays and busway

Linear heat cable following the run

Digital cable clipped along the tray or the busway so a fault is detected where it starts rather than where the air happens to carry it. Interface modules sit at the end of the circuit.

03 / Battery and UPS rooms

Hydrogen detection with a ventilation interlock

Catalytic detection at the high point for the interlock, electrochemical detection at the rack for early warning in ppm, and a relay that starts the exhaust fan and proves it started.

04 / Dedicated plant room

Clean agent equipment, not a clean agent system

Cylinder assemblies, container valves, nozzles and a release panel. The agent quantity, the nozzle layout and the pipe sizing come from your designer of record.

Alarm valve and the switches that report it

The wet alarm valve with its trim, the waterflow indicator that trips at one sprinkler's flow, and the pressure and supervisory switches that tell the panel what the riser is doing.

The document pack

Quotation, model list, packing list, invoice, certificate of origin and the listing certificate with its document number. Buyers who need to file a submittal get the paper they need on the first reply.

Quoted the way a component buyer expects

Component supply is a different business from contracting. The terms below are the ones we quote against, and the quotation states which of them applies to each line.

Engineering note

Metric and imperial figures are published side by side on every line because the drawing set and the purchase order usually use different unit systems. If your drawing says K80 and 68 °C and your purchase order says K5.6 and 155 °F, they are the same part, and the model designation is what settles it.

05 / Certification

Every claim carries a document number

Three rules govern everything this site says about standards, listings and approvals. They are also the reason you will not find an approval badge anywhere on it.

Standard references only. A reference identifies the standard a component is tested against. It is not a certificate, and where a certificate exists it is sent with its document number.

Rule 1 · The standard has to cover the hazard

NFPA 75 is the standard for the fire protection of information technology equipment, which is the equipment inside a data centre. NFPA 13 covers sprinkler installation, NFPA 72 covers detection and alarm, and NFPA 2001 covers clean agent system design. A standard is cited on this site only for the thing it actually covers.

Rule 2 · A trademark is not a certification

Some clean agent names are registered trademarks of chemical manufacturers. They identify a chemical, not a standard and not an approval body. Chemical names on this site are used to identify the agent a piece of equipment is built for.

Rule 3 · No certificate without its document number

Every certificate, listing card and test report we circulate carries its own document number, its holder and its issuing body. If a document reaches you without a document number, treat it as invalid and tell us.

How a first order runs

Send the model list

A drawing extract, a bill of materials or a list of model designations with quantities. Scanned drawings are fine. If you only have a specification and no models, send the specification.

Get the quotation and the documents

Within one business day: unit prices, lead time, the model list as we will supply it, and the document pack for the lines you asked about.

03

Sample, then release

Samples for approval on request. Production and dispatch follow the approved sample, with the packing list issued before the container leaves.

Before you send an enquiry

Do you install the systems you sell?

No. We supply components and we do not install, commission or service fire protection systems. We are not the installing contractor of record and we do not sign submittals for a system. That boundary is deliberate: it keeps the responsibility for the design with the party who carries the liability for it.

Which standard applies to fire protection in a data centre?

NFPA 75 covers the fire protection of information technology equipment, which is the equipment in a data centre. Around it, NFPA 13 governs sprinkler system installation, NFPA 72 governs detection and alarm, and NFPA 2001 governs clean agent system design. Battery rooms bring in their own references for ventilation and gas detection.

Standards are cited here to say which one a component is tested against. They are not a substitute for the design work your engineer of record carries out.

Can you supply the listing certificates?

Yes, with the document number attached, and only for the models that actually appear on the certificate. The certificate names the holder and the manufacturing site. We supply the component and we do not hold the listing ourselves, which is why the certificate in the pack names the holder rather than us.

Can you match the model designations on our drawing set?

Send the extract and we will confirm, line by line, which designations we can supply and what the equivalent designation is where ours differs. Where a designation cannot be matched we say so rather than substituting silently, because a silent substitution is what turns into a site instruction later.

What do you need in order to quote?

A model list or a specification, quantities, the destination port, and whether you need samples before the production order. If the project has a submission date, say so and we will quote the lead time against it instead of quoting a generic figure.
